Congratulations Coach!
Volunteering as a Little League coach can be a deeply rewarding experience, offering the opportunity to positively impact young athletes' lives while fostering a love for the game. As a coach, you are not only teaching the fundamentals of baseball or softball but also instilling important life skills such as teamwork, discipline, and sportsmanship. Your role involves planning practices, strategizing game plays, and ensuring that each child feels included and valued, regardless of their skill level. Moreover, being a Little League coach allows you to build strong community ties and create lasting memories with both the players and their families. It's a chance to lead by example, demonstrate resilience, and encourage a positive attitude in both victory and defeat, shaping the character of the next generation. Please reach out to us via email if you have any questions.
In Post Falls we expect our coaches to agree to the following guidelines:
IT IS NOT ABOUT YOU
- Kids First: don't put your needs ahead of the kids on your team. The game is about them, not you.
- Stay in Control: remember this is a kid's game. Don't ruin it by losing your cool. And help keep your parents in control if needed.
- NO foul language, use of tobacco, alcohol on the fields or around the kids.
- Treat UMPs with respect and remember you will get a call against you that you don't agree with.
- Know the rules: spend time getting familiar with the rules
- Unwritten Rule: This one can be nebulous. This means play the game the right way. Ex. if you're ahead by a large margin, don't keep pouring it on. In the lower divisions (tball, A) don't take advantage of a kid not knowing where to throw the ball, or running right after the kid throws the ball to the wrong base. Play with class.
Baseball is a great sport that brings kids and families together. We are excited to work with you.
